ICYMI: Animal Crossing New Horizons Direct Shows New Villagers, Upcoming Expansion

Nintendo showed off upcoming content for Animal Crossing New Horizons in its own 20-minute Direct, both free and paid.

The paid content comes in the form of a DLC called "Happy Home Paradise." In this expansion, resort islands are added to your game and you can build vacation homes for new NPCs to live in (think Dream Home Decorator but for your villagers).

"Clients with different dream vacation requests will visit a new resort area located in an archipelago, made up of several different islands, where the Paradise Planning team is located," says the webpage for Happy Home Paradise. "You can talk to a client and find out the details of their requests for a vacation home, and then make their dreams happen!"

The free content coming to the base game is called, "Version 2.0."

More DIYs are being added to the game to create new things, such as a ladder that can be added to your island cliffs. There will also be some new hairstyles to choose from, and now, patterns can be used as walls, floors, and clothes. You can now have an accent wall. Ceiling lights and hanging items can now but put in your home too. If you've been frustrated with the lack of diversity in the fencing options, they're now customizable. White picket fences for your island home is no longer a dream; it's a reality.
